Hands-on learning with care and expertiseHealth professionals, body workers and massage practitioners have learned from Sally Cranfield's accredited courses how to teach baby massage to parents and carers. There are places for just six students on each of Sally's baby massage training courses. Volunteer mothers bring their babies so that the six baby massage students get hands-on teaching practice in a supportive and relaxed environment. The course includes: the importance of massage, benefits and contra-indications, development of the neurological system, anatomy and physiology, class management and logistics, historical and cultural context, baby cues and communication, case studies and individual assessments. The small training group size allows individual attention to be given to students with the opportunity for specific feedback and discussion. Expert tuition from guest lecturers broadens the scope of this unique course and full handouts are provided. The five day course is split into two sections a few weeks apart so that students can complete their own case studies. Sally assesses each student individually during a hands-on session with mothers and their babies and, when they qualify, she provides assessment notes to help students move smoothly into practice. A certificate, approved by Embody CThA and recognised nationally, is awarded to every successful student.
